Focused on the continued development of the standards of coaching from grassroots football through to elite, National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland club Lions FC have locked in their place at the inaugural International Football Coaching Conference Australia (IFCCA) at RACV Royal Pines Resort, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May. General Manager Rob Scanlon said Lions FC secured tickets for a large group of their coaches as part of the club’s continual commitment to coach education at all levels.

“From a club perspective, we see IFCCA as an opportunity to further educate our current coaches, but also see it as a pathway to the future, as an investment to help our club grow,” Scanlon said

Keynote speakers already confirmed for IFCCA include: Graham Arnold – Caltex Socceroos Head Coach

Grant Downie OBE – City Football Group Consultant

Hope Powell OBE CBE – Brighton & Hove Albion Head Coach

Maria Ruiz De Ona – Lead Neurophysiologist, Aspire Academy Doha

Nacho Ferrer – Technical Director, Brisbane Strikers (ex Real Madrid Academy)

Craig Foster – Broadcaster, Former Socceroo

IFCCA delegates will also receive official Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for attending the two-day conference as well as opportunities to network with fellow football coaches, conference speakers and panellists.

“Whilst we (Lions) may be coming off the back of an NPL premiership, we want to be at the forefront and stay on top of our coaching standards, furthering our knowledge base from not only members of the Australian football community, but from international football professionals,” Scanlon said.

Lions FC Head Coach Warren Moon will be attending IFCCA with the remainder of Lions FC Technical Staff.

Supported by Football Federation Australia, Football Coaches Australia and Professional Footballers Australia, IFCCA will bring together experienced football professionals from around the world who will look to elevate the standard of the game in Australia, covering areas including Community Grassroots Coaching, Player Development Methodology, High Performance, and psychology within the context of a team model & club culture.
